Causes of Tricuspid Regurgitation

  • Rheumatic
  • Prolapse
  • Carcinoid
  • Ebstein’s Anomaly
  • Annular Dilation
  • RV Infarct

Assessment of Severity

  • Check Color Flow
  • Check for hepatic vein flow reversal, if present indicates severe TR
  • Annular size greater than 4 cm indicates severe TR
  • Maximal Velocity does not reflect severity only the intensity of the signal assesses
  • Vena Contracta > 6.5 mm indicates severe
