Indications for Mitral Balloon Valvotomy

  • Symptomatic patients with MVA<1.5 cm2 and favorable anatomy. Class I
  • Asymptomatic patients with MVA<1.5 cm2, favorable anatomy and pulmonary hypertension. Class IIa
  • Symptomatic patients with MVA<1.5 cm2 and unfavorable anatomy but high risk for surgery. Class IIa
  • Asymptomatic patients with MVA<1.5 cm2, favorable anatomy and new onset atrial fibrillation. Class IIb
  • Symptomatic patients with MVA<1.5 cm2 and unfavorable anatomy and low risk for surgery. Class IIb
